I like the "wait:max=0:40" better myself--it's consistent with the
user:group and it seems to make more logical sense as the colon is
a different kind of separator than the period, and I don't think
period really makes sense there.

But if there's common precedent for "wait.max=0.40" it probably
makes some sense to go with that, but it's not clear to me that
backward-compatibility is much of an argument in this case.
