okay...my first foray into packet dumpers is over.  i now have a
little program that successfully translates pcap or snoop dumps
between eachother.  big or little endian, too (although snoop output
doesn't seem to come in little endian :).

what's the general plan of attack for programs running on big endian
machines that need to swap stuff to little endian?  htonl et al don't
seem to cut it there.  is it a "roll your own" kinda situation or are
there some standardized routines that i can't find?
