so, I ask for "digital-le1", what do I get in the hosts address field? If
the answer is not "209.157.85.49" *followed* by "209.157.85.46", then
you've just screwed everyone with a multi-homed host.

i don't follow much of what you said above. can you tell me why you'd
expect to get the .46 address from a name query when that address isn't
the same name? and why would this screw multihomed people?

i have a lot of multihomed NetBSD machines and if i ask for an interface
specific alias i've listed in /etc/hosts, i REALLY don't want the other
addresses being returned. that's why i asked for *this* interfaces names'
address. if i wanted them all, i'd use the Real Name.
