Ok. I found the problem. - pkgtools/libkver wasn't building correctly
(and still isn't).

I have KVER_OSRELEASE=1.6 set (I assume '1.6' is for -current?) in
/etc.mk.conf but it is getting overridden, apparently by the
following:

.if defined(KVER_OSRELEASE)
MAKE_ENV+=      KVER_OSRELEASE=${KVER_OSRELEASE}
.endif

--->>> mk.conf:
KVER_OSRELEASE=1.6
KVER_OSRELEASE = 
CFLAGS += 
CPPFLAGS += 
CXXFLAGS += 

Doesn't look like acceptible behavior to override a mk.conf variable.
How is this supposed to work?
