there was some talk of this at the boston usenix in 2001.  subsequent
to that, COMPAT_MACH and EXEC_MACHO were put into the tree.  i *think*
the only barrier to running macos x and/or darwin binaries is the lack
of the mach system calls that they use.

no, not at all.  imagine being able to run macos 9 as a process under
netbsd.  :)
