I have not checked on a recent -current but briefly checked the status
of the v4l2 layer on netbsd-5 one night, and it seemed that uvideo(4)
does have a v4l2 frontend but that bktr(4) didn't.  If your device is a
bktr(4) you probably should use the native bktr software support
(ffmpeg and mplayer/mencoder support it).  For web cams which show up
as uvideo(4) you'd indeed use the v4l2 support.

Hopefully someone can correct me if I'm wrong though, as I only used
bktr but no usb video class device on netbsd yet.
