I've just attempted a 4_RC3 i386 cdrom install on an
amd64 (we'll need linux emulation so need an i386
kernel)

The box is almost unusable, as the cpu is largely
devoted to sys cycles. looks to be the same NVIDIA
issue resolved between RC1 and RC2 on amd64. dmesg
follows.
