According to what I can interpret from that sparse documentation, a fixed
offset and size is required, which isn't nice when shuffeling data around.
It also seems to insert it's own information into the mapped area, which
is not necessary and even obstructive when using perfectly applicable,
generic methods and utilities to manage it.

The only thing needed for my solution is a passthrough layer, which is
already available in the form of vnd(4); I'm simply proposing some bells
and whistles to make administration easier.
