I can't say positively that your patch is to blame,
but after I applied it I started getting artifacts (black horizontal
lines of one pixel's height scattered about the screen) after
switching to and from text mode in X (modular xorg
1.2.99.902/xf86-video-intel-1.99.2).

I will double-check my BIOS settings and let you know if I can remedy
the problem.
