Sure, but we could integrate the kernel parts into the kernel if we
wanted to. It might not be a bad idea -- it would make it much simpler
for people to use. (Linux has done something similar of late I
believe.)

(There is plenty of precedent for integrated modules that require
external tools to be useful -- see the iwi driver for example.)
