Hello,

I am glad to announce that tmpfs's experimental status has been
dropped and it has been enabled by default on the GENERIC kernels of
amd64, i386, macppc and sparc64. Smaller platforms (those with few
users or with less-powerful machines) have been left untouched; the
decision of enabling it shall be made by its real users or its
portmaster.

I am aware that this comes after a short period of time since all the
fixes went in and, generally, this is not good practice. However this
move will make it easier for users of NetBSD 4.0_BETA to easily try
tmpfs and, given that 4.0 is not going to be released that soon, there
is still plenty of time to catch any serious issues that might arise.

It would be great if you enabled it on your machines and used it for a
while. For some examples of how to do that, check out:

    /usr/share/examples/fstab/fstab.ramdisk
    mount_tmpfs(8)

If you happen to hit any problem do not hesitate to report it using
send-pr. For more details see:

    http://www.netbsd.org/Misc/send-pr.html

Enjoy!
