When was the last time you used the hashinit(9) interface?

My suggestions are based entirely on my own personal use of the
interface and my own personal experiences with man-pages.

I'm also suggesting that our man-pages don't try to describe
the inner workings of a routine, but rather describe the interface
in a clear enough manner that anyone can understand them.

Of course, my experience is based on my recent attempts at writing
code, so it may be lacking.
