We should skip 3.4, because it's being dropped as far as support goes
with the GCC folks.  No development or anything is going on there, all
work is being poured into 4.x.  I'm a developer and I would rather
wait out early teething problems and see 4.1 come into play, alongside
3.3.x, and do the switch at 4.2 or 4.3.

If I see any early problems I'll be posting them to the list anyway,
because I do my own installs of GCC 4 cross compilers and so forth in
/usr/local.
