who said they are symlinks?  progarms moving directory is different
to changing name.  moving directory means that most people won't be
affected by the name change (who has only one of /bin & /usr/bin or
/sbin & /usr/sbin in the $PATH?)

i don't want "vnconfig" to ever be removed.  i don't see any point.
