NetBSD runs on a lot of weird hardware, much of which is configured
through time-consuming trial and error. I think it might help our users if
we made available a gallery of system-specific kernel configurations on the
web site, organized by NetBSD release, and by port, and then by configuration file.

For example, I've got a Intel PR440FX dual Pentium Pro motherboard running
NetBSD/i386 version 2.0.2_STABLE, so

www.netbsd.org/gallery/kernel-configs/NetBSD-2.0/i386/PR440FX

I've found that ISA port numbers move around from motherboard to motherboard,
and having a documented example helps a lot.

I also have a DigitalServer 3305 (nee AlphaServer 800 5/500), running
NetBSD/alpha 1.6.2, so

www.netbsd.org/gallery/kernel-configs/NetBSD-1.6/alpha/DS3305

With just a little documentation of the hardware quirks found along the way,
this could be really helpful ...

I want to distinguish this from configurations that The NetBSD Project
maintains (or doesn't maintain) in its source repository - those have (in some
sense) a stronger guarantee of working, whereas what I am suggesting is,
"here's one that worked for me at the time I posted it here."

Comments?
