Have you checked whether the ataraid stuff in NetBSD-current works
with this controller?  It's advertised to work with "some Promise
controllers", but you might be lucky.

According to .../i386/conf/GENERIC:

  # ATA RAID configuration support, as found on some Promise controllers.
  pseudo-device   ataraid
  ld*     at ataraid? vendtype ? unit ?
