BSD-licensed OpenFirmware anyone?  There's yet unfinished OpenBIOS
(www.OpenBIOS.info) - which is, despite its name, is an OFW
implementation.  It is GPL'ed, though they explicitly state that using
standard OFW client entry points doesn't make you kernel a derived
work ;).
