I didn't get the beginning of the thread, where the NetBSD version
was probably mentioned.
_If_ this is the 1.6 release, you should pull in the branch's latest
pciide.c and pciide_appollo_reg.h. There were bugs in the UDMA setup
of newer VIA chipsets.
