The alpha SRM evolved over time, and data structures desiged
in TurboChannel times were overloaded with PCI semantics.
(just look at the terms used in CTB...)

I wouldn't call the terminal description interface there really
generic, complete nor well-thought.

Just to explain why the code looks hackish, and why there are many XXXs
around.
The hack lies in the interpretation of the firmware data, not
in the structure as such.
