How compatible is this new NetBSD feature with other operating systems?
Do they provide similar interfaces? Is there a standard on this?

It's good to have that interface! As people need to change 3rd party
applicaiton code (apache, ircd, samba, ...) to use it, compatibility with
other systems to reduce code maintenance costs and increase portability
would be nice to have, hence my question.
