There is no such thing as a VESA BIOS on my sparc64. And the firmware, while
knowing "something" about the hardware, will not initialiize it enough to
display anything at all if we are booting with serial console.

Anyway, we are getting off-topic here; as Matthias noted this case will be
covered by the chipset dependend framebuffer driver - which means the  core
VGA driver will not be attached, only wsdisplay @ machfb.
