Yes, and that's an ugly, gaping bug in our emulation of OSes which
*do* have it. It breaks apps which aren't readily available on NetBSD.
(I have seen mainatiners of commercial apps complain, er, ask,about it).

If we fixed it properly, there'd be no need for hacks, is all I'm
trying to say.
