Ah, quite correct. I've fixed that, but unfortunately I still run into the
exact same problem. I turned on some more debugging; the dump is appended.

I tried installing a USB sniffer under Windows ME (Japanese)
to see what was going on, but had luck with neither the one
at http://usbsnoop.sourceforge.net/ nor its predecessor at
http://www.jps.net/koma/ . (The Clie refuses to sync when the sniffer
is turned on, though when it's off I can sync fine.)

Any thoughts on where I should go from here? I'm going to try to start
chasing stuff down at the Palm website, but I don't know how far I'll
get with that.
