a few days ago I noticed the oddly high drive number here:

atapibus0 at pciide0 channel 1: 2 targets
atapibus0 drive 538976288: <, MATSHITA CR-583, > type 0 direct removable not configured


if I add the config line for cd* at atapibus* then it becomes:

pciide0: secondary channel configured to compatibility mode
atapibus0 at pciide0 channel 1: 2 targets
cd0 at atapibus0 drive 0: <MATSHITA CR-583, , 1.05> type 5 cdrom removable
cd0: 32-bit data port
cd0: drive supports PIO mode 3, DMA mode 1


some uninitialized field somewhere?
