Hi,
what are the basic things needed to make newpipe SMP-friendly? Just
guard all flag setting and busy counter changes with simplelock, or
more than that? The code already uses lockmgr() locks where appropriate[*]

This seems to be last issue with newpipe code at the moment.

 [*] I noted that the performance difference between variant using lockmgr()
	locks vs. the home-brewed ones is actually negliable even on 386DX,
	countrary to my initial tests.
