Also, this would allow for the new directory notification and leases that
Samba uses in Linux 2.4, so NetBSD could either run the Linux Samba code
under emulation or with a bit of munging, add code to Samba to provide hooks
into this code. Matt talked about limitations of the imon stuff, and I think
that Matt's file leasing is a reasonable shot at the intended function.

I'll provide a URL once Matt returns to England (he was staying with me for
the LCA conference).

The design looks generic enough to expand as necessary.
It's possible to emulate Solaris' /dev/poll and Irix's /dev/imon .
