in fact...it just occurred to me that you could then do some really
wacky things.  consider being able to do

    # config -k /netbsd

and have config read the kernel config straight out of the kernel,
find its name, and make you a new compile directory.  or...

    # config -K

which tells config to use either the sysctl to obtain the config, or
to use machdep.booted_kernel to find the booted kernel and read that.
