Speaking of ptys, are we ever planning to migrate to pty98 support, or
are we just going to find 32 unambiguous letters to use for them?

I know that 'tty[pqrstuvwxyz...][0-9a-f]' is the typical norm for a BSD
box, but we really might want to consider an alternative if we're playing
around with as many as (or more than) 512 ptys.
