Not really... we have tons of these interfaces in various machines,
plugged into all sorts of different hubs/switches, and they always
seem to get speed/duplex correct.

Hard-wiring one side for 100 or 100-fdx requires that you also hard-wire
the other side to the same thing in order for it to function properly,
so you should do this only if you have a managed switch that has these
settings.
