The USB CD-R's I've seen are ATAPI CD-R's with a USB<->ATAPI
chip. Ideally those chips would follow some part of the USB Mass
Storage spec and a driver wouldn't be too hard to write. Alas, the
currently popular USB-ATAPI chips don't follow this spec and the
manufacturer doesn't want to document them.
