If he had ANY interest in having a compatible interface, you'd think
he'd have discussed it first.

As far as I can tell, he had no interest in having a compatible interface.
Given this, I don't see any reason to even attempt to cooperate on this
front[*].

[*] My opinion.  If you want the NetBSD Project's, ask Core.
