AT&T UNIX did that on the 3B2 with the "floppy" QIC-02 drive.  I created
a filesystem and (eventually) mounted it just for fun once, but it
wasn't any fun at all -- I had to close the door on my office so the
noise of the tape drive didn't keep me awake while the mkfs ran!  ;-)
