Actually, no, my 'approval' (if that) for the registry is that, somewhat
like ODM in aix both applications and the kernel have access to the
same persistent storage of arbitrary properties. This has several
desirable properties if you think about it.

It's basically what I've been beating up the DDI group at Sun (as
a former member) it's as if you had a devinfo tree which you
is persistent across reboots, as well as other things.

Now, this is all counter to the *BSD way of doing business. This
way is fine for *BSD people, but that is not the entire world.
