Why?  mmap()ing a device on an alpha is as trivial as it is on any
other port.  (In other words, I think you overestimate the amount that
I care... 8-)

mmap()ing a device and accessing it in a correct, machine-independent
manner isn't quite so easy, but I'm quite sure that Drew knows that,
and also knows the right way to write code capable of doing the right
things...
