Found the problem in a config file...

the Cell files were not being updated by the config program..

BTW, which architecture are you using?

This would imply that the AFS LKM is already loaded.  Perhaps you should
just try starting afsd?  Or you could modunload the AFS lkm and try the
whole thing from scratch.
