Furthermore, aren't the 2B and the D channel really multiplexed over a
single serial channel?   Assuming that there's no jitter in the D
channel sounds like a really bad idea to me.   Furthermore, it would
probably be easier to feed this data to xntpd than it would be to feed
it directly into the kernel, and it would certainly be better from the
perspective of minimizing the amount of special-purpose code in the
kernel.
