Or, you don't completely trust the clean bit but you don't care.  (Such 
is the case for the vast majority of our workstations; it's only on the 
NFS servers that I care at all, and on those we have nightly backups in 
the event of problems.)

Maybe a little too much so, but I certainly agree with the main thrust of 
your argument, in any case.
