It's not possible to do this with the installation tool (sysinst), however what
you want to do is possible.

Simply install normally onto the first drive, and partition out your 3 gigs,
and leave the rest empty.

After installing.. partition the rest of the space, and create a CCD.  Take a
look at the various ccd* manpages for information on how to do this.
