Um, this is cool, but I posted on tech-pkg and tech-install a plan to do
this in a way which would interact well with the system package code.

Where are you going with this?  It seems like we're both building toward
registering an existing system as a set of packages, and I'd rather not
do this in two conflicting ways.

The workplan I posted with the steps I am working on is at

The code I am working on takes a package name from a (new) second field
of the set list, so that a set can be made up of multiple packages.  I
have already committed changes to the existing set list handling scripts
to ignore fields after the first on a line.  It doesn't look like this
script deals with that :-(
