It's very straightforward.  build two copies: one as a tool to run
during the build, and one as a program to be installed later.

No, it's very well defined.

Directories in src/crypto-foo/bar which "belong" as subdirectories of
src/bar should be listed in src/crypto-foo/bar/Makefile.frag
