FWIW, even with this change, my U5's on-board hme still has issues bringing
up a link with a DLink DSS-8+ 8-port 10/100 switch.  Hardwiring the hme to
100HDX or 100FDX brings the link up (though in both cases in 100HDX) all the
time, but setting media to auto and disconnecting and then reconnecting the
cable generally results in no link being re-established (though it would
come back sometimes, but rarely).

Also, connecting the hme to a known-working switch and then to the non-
working one generally brought up a link fine.
