This is a good point.  It also seems to me that this is a common change
that's necessary regardless of other unrelated re-mappings.

One thing that wasn't clear to me from the patch was whether or not this
"option" could be used in conjunction with other options.  Is this not a
feature that's necessary no matter whether the keyboard is of US layout
or not (the control key is equally awkward on many "national" keyboards
that I've examined).
