OK ... I just realised you said 3.1, I blame the tequila!
It's quite possible something has changed since 3.1 to rectify that issue but
as I mentioned no domU is completely bug free :)
I recommend using CURRENT for xen3 and ssh as quickly as possible! ... at
least until the econsole problem is rectified.
