Subject: grub-install BIOS problem

This message appeared when trying to install grub:

# grub-install /dev/ld0a
Probing devices to guess BIOS drives. This may take a long time.
/dev/ld0a does not have any corresponding BIOS drive.
#

This was on a Dell PowerEdge 1850 with its two drives configured in a
RAID 1 array by its hardware controller.

A similar thing happened when I tried on a P III with its system disk
connected to a 3ware SATA RAID card but not in an array:

# grub-install /dev/ld0a
/dev/ld0a does not have any corresponding BIOS drive.
#

grub was built using pkgsrc updated from CVS on 2 March 2006.

I've appended dmesg output from these two machines to this message in
case it's relevant.
