Yes, it looks very much like it is sysinsts core dump which fills /.
So that is not the real issue.

Perhaps I should add that I cross-built this from i386, which was in
turn cross-built from the same sources by amd64/3.0. 
These sources were from just before the LP64 workaround.
Maybe there are more code generation issues lurking? (I hope not!)
The sysinst on i386 worked ok.
