No way.  The VAX 9000 was a spectacular failure due to the very small
shipped volumes.

It's true that there were probably ultimately quite a few more 750s
sold than 780s, and that the 785 was fairly quickly superseded by the
8650, but there were certainly many, many more than a few hundred 780s
sold.  I wouldn't be surprised if the total number were in the tens
of thousands.
