xbiff and all the programs shipped in the 1.5_BETA latest binary snapshot
(xterm also) have this problem. They are not compiled with the
libc.so.12.62.1 that is in the binary snapshot but they have been compiled
with a newer libc!!

so there is an inconsistency

the old programs (like xv I had compiled on 1.5_ALPHA) works without
warnings.
