Hello all,

I just spent a good part of a weekend with an 8350, trying to get the
damn machine to netboot. Bear in mind that this was the first time I
tried to use it after I hauled it in 3 years ago.

So I grabbed boot.mop and the kernel from bakfull.campus.snip and
proceeded. On the first try the machine doesn't pass diagnostics,
attached processor faulty. Reseating the card helped.

Second try: The power light at the AUI connector (DEBNT) didn't come on.
Minor adjustment of the fuse with a hammer helped.

Third try: KDB50 didn't pass diagnostics, the leds on T1002 and T1003 were
0101 which probably means that the SDI-module is malfunctioning. Reseating
the cards didn't help. I have no idea what to do (except to pull them out)

So at this point we get to mopboot:
Via the magical incantations of
>>> T
>>> B ET90

at /var/log/messages:
Jul 21 20:56:59 newmuuli mopd[313]: mopd 2.5.3 started.
Jul 21 20:57:00 newmuuli mopd[313]: Initialized ne0
Jul 21 20:58:35 newmuuli mopd[313]: 8:0:2b:c:26:43 (1) Do you have 08002b0c2643?
 (Yes)
Jul 21 20:58:45 newmuuli mopd[313]: 8:0:2b:c:26:43 Send me 08002b0c2643
Jul 21 20:58:45 newmuuli mopd[313]: 8:0:2b:c:26:43 Load completed

? 06 PC=0000F1D1

(The vax console stuff is from my faulty memory. Not enough neurons, use swap)

So I removed the KDB modules, tried again, same results.

Anyway the VAX has:
DEBNT, KDB, DMB32, 28MB memory, 2*MS820 and something with LESI.
The boothost was NetBSD/i386 1.4.2, VAX userland 1.5A (not at it matters at
this point..:)

I'll attach the moptrace output, I don't know if "Device type" is supposed
to be  "00 DP  'DP11-DA'"

Anyway all tips appreciated, on netboot and the KDB troubles. I'd really,
really like to get the KDB working, since before trying the vax I hauled
two RA81s and an RA82 from storage. Okay, it was three years ago but I
didn't remember that putting the HDAs back was *that* hard!
