I have just done a test right now
IT happens to me with every user.

Every user is notifyed as root by the talk daemon and by the write
application.

mariah [7:08pm]{test}[~]> whoami
test

mariah [7:08pm]{test}[~]> w
 7:08PM up 1 day, 2:45, 6 users, load averages: 3.88, 3.95, 3.61
USER TTY FROM LOGIN@ IDLE WHAT
rj45 p1 suncms:S.0 4:32PM 2:26 ../perl -I ../lib
test p7 localhost 7:08PM 0 w

talk rj45

and from rj45 I see...

Message from Talk_Daemon@mariah.bo.infn.it at 19:08 ...
