Are you using the GENERIC kernel for both machines? Do you see an le0 (or equiv 
ethernet) device on the 2000 during the initial part of the kernel boot? From 
my short term playing with netbooting vaxen, it looks like the kernel refusing 
to see the ethernet on the vax in question will make that vax not even try to 
mount nfs anything.

Did that make sense?
